Dr. Maria Cooper

Markiza Cooper earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry/Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Tennessee and graduated summa cum laude while working full time. She obtained her Medical Doctorate from East Tennessee State University James H Quillen College of Medicine, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society for her outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and volunteer endeavors. Dr. Cooper completed her internship and residency at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville and served as Chief Resident her final year. Her training included working at all three Mayo Clinic sites, with vast exposure to adult and pediatric dermatology under the guidance of world-renowned experts in the field. Dr. Cooper excels in cutaneous surgery and is highly skilled in skin cancer excisions. She is excited to join the Dermatology Southeast team and looks forward to providing diverse and high quality dermatologic care to the North Florida community. This community  has become her home since she emigrated from Ukraine to the US at the age of 19.
